The talented artists of Sandy Creek High transformed simple cups into art with Styrogami.

Advanced level visual art students in Stephanie Stein’s sculpture classes were challenged to create a sculpture using just one styrofoam cup. They changed the cup from its original shape as much as possible while using all of the pieces they cut out and glue to hold it all together. It also adds to their toolkit as they learned how to safely use a craft knife.

The project helps the artists see possibilities in a new perspective, said Stein.

“Students are able to problem solve, safely use craft knives, and understand that sculptures are three-dimensional and are viewed from multiple viewpoints, not just the front like a 2D artwork.”
