Dorothy “Lynn” Estes Springer, 72, of Sharpsburg, Georgia, left this earthly home Thursday, December 7, 2023.

She studied Art and graduated from the University of Georgia, where she met her first husband, John Wesley Berry Jr. The two were married in 1973 and had a son, John Wesley Berry III, on December 05, 1980. After divorcing in 1996, she married Joseph Frederick Springer in the Summer of 2006.

Lynn was a fun, loving, sweet person who cherished her friends and family. A little shy at first, she opened up to those she trusted and easily won people over with her quick, witty humor and infectious laugh. Lynn connected deeply with people and took comfort in being surrounded by those who made her feel safe and loved.

She enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, taking joy in just living, animals, traveling and being with her people, and enjoying the company she kept.

Art was her passion and talent; she loved to teach, create, and share it with students and loved ones. Those lucky enough to receive her paintings (or other pieces) display them proudly and know she made it with heartfelt joy.

When she was sick this past year, she loved sitting on her back porch, watching the hummingbirds, and chatting.

Lynn touched countless lives and made many lifelong friends as an educator in the Fayette County School System, first as an art teacher at North and East Fayette, then at Whitewater Middle as a social studies teacher, and, once again, an art teacher. The impact of her teaching for 33 years resonates with those she taught and worked with.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband, Joseph Frederick Springer. Dorothy is survived by her son, John Wesley Berry III; her brother, Andrew Perry; her stepfather, Ned J. Perry; and stepdaughter, Betsy van der Hoek, and family.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at 4:00 PM in the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home in Fayetteville, with Reverend Doctor Thomas Martin officiating. Visitation will occur at the funeral home before the service from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

We welcome you to leave your condolences, thoughts, and memories of Lynn on our Tribute Wall.
