Joe Black, 92, of Fayetteville, Ga.

Joe was born November 4, 1931, in Fairburn, Georgia. The first son of Ted and Lucile Black. After Joe was born his siblings Joyce and Jackie came along.

Joe started his career, working at Saxon Aircraft Company before joining the Army, serving in the Korean War in the 17th Signal Battalion.

After leaving the Army, Joe began working in aviation, eventually starting Blacks’ Avionics in 1972 at Falcon Field in Peachtree City. Joe married Agatha Norris in 1955 starting a family, settling in East Point and finally Fayetteville.

Joe is survived by his wife of 69 years, Agatha Black; sons, Tony Black (Susan) of Sharpsburg, Tim Black (Janet) of Memphis; and Toby Black (April) of Concord. Grandchildren: Cathryn Maxey, Nathan Black, Chelsea Benson, Cameron Black, Davis Black, Leigh Bailey, Aaron Posner, and Claire Black. Great Grandchildren: Peyton, McKenzie, Riley, Donavan, Bella, Norman, and Margot, along with dozens of cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Joe is also survived by his younger sister Joyce Cannady and brother Jackie Black (Bonnie).

Joe is a proud Veteran and Mason lodge member or Campbellton Lodge #76 in Fairburn, loving his country and family all his life.

A funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home in Fayetteville.

Visitation will occur prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home on Wednesday. Joe will be laid to rest at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville following the service.
