The American Junior Golf Association has announced the annual AJGA Atlanta Classic tournament presented by UHY. The tournament will return to Fayette County, Georgia, on Aug. 17-20, 2023, at the new Planterra Club in Peachtree City. The 54-hole tournament is an official World Amateur Golf ranked event.

The week begins with the Chick-fil-A Junior-Am Fundraising Tournament on Thursday, Aug. 17. This event pairs club members and local amateurs with a top junior player to raise funds for the AJGA’s Liberty National ACE Grant and the Fayette Fire Foundation. Throughout the event’s history, it has raised $600,000 for these and other deserving charity organizations.

On Thursday evening, the tournament will host its inaugural Giddings Dinner, presented by Georgia Power. The event will recognize AJGA tournament participants, local sponsors and honor the life of Merilee Giddings, whose contributions to the game of golf directly impacted the growth of junior players, specifically junior girls in the game.

After the first round on Aug. 18, the Planterra Club, in coordination with the tournament committee, will host the AJGA Junior Golf Clinic presented by Southern Company for local junior golfers.

The event will host Junior and Senior AJGA members who will discuss their paths in the game, what it has meant to them, and how they prepare for tournaments. Clinic participants will have the opportunity to hit shots of their own under the supervision of local golf professionals.

The event is still looking for volunteers and is open to the public. To learn more, visit https://www.ajga.org.
