Fayette schools sweep region academic bowl

Starr’s Mill High and Flat Rock Middle led the way as Fayette schools dominated at the 2023 Griffin RESA Academic Bowl.

In the high school varsity division, Starr’s Mill High won 1st place. Sandy Creek was runner-up, with Whitewater in 4th place and McIntosh in 5th.

In the high school JV division, Starr’s Mill won, with McIntosh in 2nd, Whitewater in 3rd, and Fayette County High in 5th.

Flat Rock won the middle school division, with J.C. Booth in 2nd and Rising Starr in 3rd place.

Varsity and JV teams that finished 1st, 2nd, or 3rd qualified to represent the region at the Georgia Regional Academic Bowl state championship.

The Griffin RESA Academic Bowl contest is a regional competition among middle and high schools in the Griffin RESA region which consists of the following school systems (Butts, Fayette, Henry, Lamar, Newton, Pike, Spalding, and Upson).
