Fayette’s Fleming Repeats First in State Win

Andrew Fleming of Fayetteville won first place in the state for the American Legion Oratorical Contest on Sunday, March 5, 2023 in Forsyth, Georgia. The award comes with a scholarship prize. Andrew took first place in the contest last year as well. He will represent Georgia in the American Legion national competition in Indianapolis on April 21-23.

Andrew is the son of Mr. Shervin and Mrs. LaKeisha Fleming. He is a 10th grade homeschool student who attends the Konos Academy in Tyrone.

Andrew’s accrued awards and activities include:

Advancing to nationals in Speech and Debate in competition within the National Christian Forensics and Communications Association.
Winning first place statewide for Impromptu Speech at the Georgia Association of Private and Parochial Schools (GAPPS) Competition this month.
Playing on the Konos Chess Team.
Serving in the Omega Omicron Honor Society at Konos.

He is a member of MENSA, the John Hopkins Center for Talented Youth, and Davidson Young Scholars.

Andrew plans to pursue a career as an attorney.
