Three Fayette County cities have been named by AdvisorSmith.com as some of Georgia’s safest cities.
The AdvisorSmith.com survey included 60 mid-sized cities in Georgia with a population of 10,000-50,000 and 197 small cities with populations of under 10,000. The ranking used 2018 Uniform Crime Reporting information from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The survey looked at violent crimes per 1,000 residents, property crimes per 1,000 residents and an overall crime score.
Peachtree City ranked No. 3 for mid-sized cities, with 1.8 violent crimes per 1,000 residents, 13.2 property crimes per 1,000 residents and an overall crime score of 18.
Fayetteville ranked No. 16 for mid-sized cities, with 7.2 violent crimes per 1,000 residents, 25.9 property crimes per 1,000 residents and an overall crime score of 42.7.
For small cities, those with populations of under 10,000, Tyrone was ranked No. 14, with very low .1 violent crime per 1.000 residents, 14.6 property crimes per 1,000 residents and an overall crime score of 15.4.
The safest mid-sized city in the state was Milton in Fulton County, while the safest small city was Abbeville in Wilcox County in south central Georgia.
