What started as a small thrift store on Huddleston Rd. in Peachtree City over 20 years ago has grown into one of the largest thrift stores and supporters of local non-profit organizations on the southside of Atlanta. Earlier this month, the organization named Peachtree City resident Fran Shockley as their new executive director.
Shockley comes to The Clothes Less Traveled after a career with Delta Air Lines where she most recently served as a Manager of Talent Development. Throughout her career at Delta she developed and led successful teams with a focus on quality, process improvement, and delivering legendary experiences to customers and employees.
“There is no doubt she will be an effective leader for our organization and one who is committed to maximizing the potential of our staff and volunteers,” said Tammy Turk, President of the Board of Directors for The Clothes Less Traveled. “However, it was her heart and passion for this role, and our organization, that won us over. Fran is an exceptionally warm and genuine person. We’re eager for the community to get to know her.”
Clothes Less Traveled is committed to being the premier destination for shoppers and volunteers, as well as an incredible place to work. In addition to supporting local organizations through grants made possible by store profits.
The Clothes Less Traveled also awards scholarships to youth volunteers and supports families in need through voucher programs. The good work that the organization does for Fayette County and surrounding communities was a big draw for Shockley.
“I feel so incredibly honored and blessed to help maintain The Clothes Less Traveled’s service-oriented culture while also leading the organization to an even brighter future,” said Shockley. “I am eager to introduce myself to the community and share the incredible story of this organization.”
