Seniors in Georgia should be able to count on our legislators to protect affordable healthcare. As a 70-year old resident of Coweta County, I am deeply disappointed that Congressman Ferguson and Senator Perdue have not joined Senator Isakson in his efforts to suspend the dangerous Health Insurance Tax (HIT), which would raise Medicare Advantage premiums by nearly $500 per couple if enacted in 2020.
If healthcare costs rise due to HIT, too many seniors will have to choose between healthcare and food, or turn to crowdsourcing platforms like GoFundMe.
We worked hard all of our lives — and we deserve better than that. Congress shouldn’t play games with senior care — it’s time to stop the HIT.
