Julia Aurelia Cerniglia Tunnell, age 90, of LaGrange, passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at the Brightmore Hospice.
She was born on August 29, 1928 to the late Nuncio Samuel Cerniglia and Viola Jackson Cerniglia in Greenville, Miss. She was part of the Daughters of the Confederacy and a faithful member of St. Peters Catholic Church.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Hansel Tunnell; brother, Sam Cerniglia, Jr., sisters, Helen Roy, Mildred Smith.
Survivors include her sons, Christopher Tunnell (Suzanne), Patrick Tunnell (Michelle); daughters, Linda Tunnell (Joseph Hans Lang), Helen Norman (Larry), Julia Harris (David); sisters, Rosemary Brewer, Carol Artman; grandchildren, Dallas Crain, Jason Barnett, Aurelia Jones, Samantha Barnett, Shelby Norman, Lori Adams, Christopher Tunnell, Paul Tunnell, Sophia Tunnell, Patrick Tunnell, Chad Tunnell, Aaron Tunnell, Carrissa Brown, Colten Kovarik, Brett Harris, Bradley Harris; thirteen great grandchildren; extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at the Higgins Lagrange Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 28, 2018 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Father Tim Gadziala, Chief Celebrant. Interment was held at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 31, 2018 at the Andersonville National Cemetery.
