Betty Walker Edmondson, affectionately known as “Grammie,” died peacefully December 16, 2018 as a result of complications from pulmonary fibrosis.
Betty was born on November 21, 1929 to the late Cecil and Cathryn Walker and was raised in Mt. Pleasant, Tenn. As a young woman, Betty worked for several years at National Life Insurance Company in Nashville, Tenn. She married Albert S. Edmondson in 1952. After Albert’s job transfer, the couple moved to Hapeville, Ga. in 1957, where they raised their family. Betty worked for 26 years for the City of Atlanta and retired in 1991.
For many years, she was a faithful member of Stewart Avenue Baptist Church in Hapeville and later Peachtree City United Methodist Church. Betty lived her life faithfully as a Christian, wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. She will be remembered for her loving and generous ways.
She was predeceased by her husband Albert S. Edmondson, her son Roy L. Edmondson, sisters Alleene Walker, Ann Jones, Carolyn Kelly, and Ruth Boshers, and a brother Bill Walker.
Betty is survived by her son Howard L. Edmondson (Cindy), grandchildren Brittany E. Peisel (Ryan) of Greenville, S.C., Brent S. Edmondson of Atlanta, and Bethany L. Edmondson (and fiancé Marcus Griffin) of Charleston, S.C., and also great-grandson Landon Roy Peisel.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home with Reverend Sean Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City. The family received visitors on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 from 5 p.m.to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
