Nelson Ray Landers died Sunday, November 18, 2018 at his home in Blairsville, Ga.
Born on June 5, 1946 to Wilbur and Mordie Landers of Bowden, Ga. Growing up in Bowden, Ray graduated from Heard County High School in 1964. After graduation, he joined the United States Air Force, serving in Vietnam in 1966 and 1967. He began his landscaping career in the spring of 1972 and continued until his retirement decades later.
Ray leaves behind his wife, Nina Stephens Landers, children and grandchildren: Terri Landers of Athens, Stacy Landers of Atlanta, Jamie Morgan Mapp and her husband, Eric and their children Macie, Max, and Morgan of Chester, Virginia, Butch Morgan and his wife Krystyna and their children Luke and Jake of Buffalo, N. Y. Ray is also survived by: Ann Landers and Bob Fuselier of Vista, Calif., Annette Lee of Atlanta, Beckett Landers of Carrollton, Fairy Wortham and her husband Joe of Peachtree City, Shirley Landers of Marietta, and Ray’s sister Fran Morrow preceded him, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Visitation and service was on Friday, November 23, 2018 from noon to 2 p.m., with his funeral at 2 p.m. in the chapel at Parrott Funeral Home, 8355 Senoia Road Fairburn, Ga. 30213 with Dr. Gene Tyre and Rev. Mike Ayers officiating. Special music was presented by Cathy Gray. The following gentleman served as pallbearers, Joseph Wortham, Kevin Moore, Joey Pendley, Eric King, Jimmy Simpson, Blaine Zartner, Eric Mapp and Scott Bryant. Interment followed at Holly Hill Memorial Park, Fairburn, Ga. Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville is in charge of the local arrangements.
