William Jackson “Jack” Murphy, 63, of Jonesboro passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2018 in Young Harris, Ga.
He was born on October 6, 1955 in Atlanta, Ga. to the late Henry and Avie Murphy. Jack was a fabricator by occupation, but was truly a Jack of all trades. He was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed skeet shooting and the outdoors. He was also a founding member of the Peach State Archeological Society. His favorite places to be were 17 miles offshore and the North Georgia Mountains.
Jack is survived by his wife, Ellen Gray Murphy, whom he met in 1975 and married in 1981; his sons, Bill Murphy and David Murphy; his brothers, Bob and Hilda Murphy and John and Ginny Murphy; his sister, Sheila and Gerry Ruud, and a large loving extended family.
A funeral service was held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2018 in the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with Rev. Jane Gunter officiating. The family received friends from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, November 9, 2018 at Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville.
