Frank “Jerry” Hairston, Sr., 76, of Fayetteville passed away October 21, 2018. He was born in Atlanta on February 1, 1942 to the late Francis and Helen Hairston.
Jerry was a 1960 graduate of Sylvan High School in Atlanta. He then attended Auburn University and graduated in 1965. Upon graduating from Auburn, He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Jerry retired after 40 years with Allstate Insurance (Hairston Agency, Inc.). He was an active member of Harpí s Crossing Baptist Church for many years.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Terrie Hairston; son, Jerry (Robyn) Hairston, Jr.; daughter, Kelly Hairston Carroll; bonus children, Scott Walraven and Kelly Carr; grandchildren, Vader Walraven, Marissa Carr, Mary Katherine Hairston, Zoe Walraven, Hayden Hairston, and Maggie Hairston; and great-grandchild, Kaleb Crowder.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Harp’s Crossing Baptist Church with Reverend Dennis Watson, Reverend Ken Helms, and Reverend Chris Watson officiating. He will lie-in-state at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville.
