Harvie “Dean” Pope, 80, of Fayetteville, passed away May 28, 2018.
He was born in Fayetteville on July 18, 1937 to the late Harvey J. and Christine Davis Pope. He retired from Johnson Motor Lines and was the owner and operator of T & D Grocery in Fayetteville for 31 years. Dean was a dedicated member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Fayetteville.
Dean was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Pope and his parents. He is survived by his children, Robbin Betsill of Williamson, Sharon (Curt) Hill of Fayetteville, Patti McAfee of Fayetteville, and Tim (Bonnie) Pope of Brooks; grandchildren, Tammie, Jason, Emma, Cora, P. J., Emily, Brandon, Kyle, Jamie, and Jessica; eleven great-grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Duke of Fayetteville; brother Donald (Jackie) Pope of Fayetteville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Fayetteville with remains placed in state at 1 p.m. Pastor T. J. Boyd and Mike Duke will officiate. Burial followed the service at Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville.
