Evelyn Louise Grier Hart (91) of Peachtree City, passed away March 15, 2018.
Lynn was born to Ralph Erskine Grier Jr. and Maude Evelyn Shealy June 5, 1926 in Columbia, S. C. She attended Dreher High School, Erskine College, and Columbia College, graduating with degrees in both voice and organ. Lynn met the love of her life in junior high school and married the late John Evans Hart on September 5, 1947. They moved to Sandy Springs, Ga. in 1956.
John and Lynn were charter members of Apostle’s Lutheran Church where Lynn was the principal organist for many years. Besides being an accomplished musician, Lynn sang beautifully. At a young age she entertained troops during WWII. Lynn also worked for 18 years at the Sears store in Town Center as an assistant to the store manager.
A true Southern lady, Lynn sewed matching dresses for her daughters, was an adventuresome cook, and created stunning handwork in needlepoint, crochet, knitting, and embroidery.
Lynn was a loving mother to her three children, Nancy Hart Shepack and husband Jim of Peachtree City, Lisa Hart and husband Danny Muller of Fayetteville, and John Maurice Hart of Marietta. She was the proud grandmother of six, Evans Martin, Reese Martin, Anna Winter, Jennifer Huff, Teresa Stanley, and Lilly M. Brown, and delighted great-grandmother of eight.
A memorial service will be held at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, 101 North Peachtree Parkway, Peachtree City, Ga. 30269 at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday March 24, 2018, with Pastor Fritz Wiese and Pastor Miriam Beecher officiating. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall of the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lynn’s memory to Music Ministry, Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, Peachtree City, Ga.
