Howard Franklin Williams, 83, of Peachtree City passed away September 8, 2017.

Howard was born in Atlanta, Ga. May 17, 1934 to Julia Callaway Williams and Merrill E. Williams, Sr.

He attended Georgia State University, The University of Georgia, and Woodrow Wilson Law School  Howard joined the Department of State Foreign Service in 1958, starting as a clerk in the mail/pouch shipping room, then served as a code clerk before advancing to Counselor for Administrative Affairs, he served as a United States diplomat at embassies and consulates in the Republic of Guinea, USSR, Jamaica, Iran, Mexico, Ecuador, Australia and Pakistan.  After retiring, he served on temporary duty in many African countries.   Howard was a passionate patriot.

Howard was preceded in death by his mother Julia Callaway Williams, his father Merrill E. Williams, Sr. and brother, Merrill E. Williams, Jr.   He is survived by his wife Winnie Williams; son, Christopher Williams of Senoia; daughter, Kimberly Williams of Senoia; sister-in-law, Sheila Williams of Peachtree City; niece Mandy Flesher; nephew, Matthew Williams.

Funeral services will be held at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, Peachtree City, Saturday, September 16 at 3 p.m.  Family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at Greenwood Cemetery, Atlanta.  The procession will leave Mowell Funeral Home, Peachtree City at 1:30 pm.
