Louise Lanier Coleman of Fayetteville, formerly of East Point, passed away on August 17, 2017. She was 89.
Mrs. Coleman was a homemaker and also a bookkeeper for the family business. She and her husband, Walt, owned and operated a service station in Atlanta for 44 years until they retired in 1990.
Mrs. Coleman was an avid gardener and received the East Point Yard of the Month Award on several occasions. When she moved to Fayetteville, she also relocated her coveted rose garden, consisting of 45 rose bushes, which flourished under her care.
Mrs. Coleman was extremely creative. She enjoyed sewing, designing clothes and home furnishings, quilting, reupholstering furniture, embroidery, floral design and cooking. She loved to share her creations with friends.
Mrs. Coleman shared her husband’s love for sports. They were loyal fans of the Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldogs. They also were involved in amateur fast pitch and slow pitch softball.
Mrs. Coleman began a new hobby in her early eighties and became an enthusiastic reader and read more than 300 books in seven years.
Mrs. Coleman was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Walter L. Coleman Sr. and grandpups, Maddie and Nick.
She is survived by son, Walt, Jr. and Tandra Coleman, and grandpup, Bandit; and daughter, Donna and John Thompson and grandpup, Millie. She is also survived by two step-grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren. The family received friends on Sunday, August 20, 5-7 p.m. A graveside service was held on Monday, August 21 at 11 a.m. at Crest Lawn Cemetery in Atlanta.
