Huddleston school renovation gets award

The recent renovation of Huddleston Elementary School led to the school being selected as a winner of a 2017 Alliant Build America Award.

Fayette County School System spokesperson Melinda Berry-Dreisbach said the entire Peachtree City school was renovated last summer using E-SPLOST (Education-Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax) funds.

Renovations included replacement of the roof, heating ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) system, flooring, and ceiling lights. Also, the exterior was updated and the entire building was painted, Berry-Dreisbach said.

The total renovation cost was $5.812 million, paid for by E-SPLOST, she added.

Carroll Daniel Construction was the vendor that headed the renovation project.

The Alliant Build America Award honors the Associated General Contractors of America members who build the nation’s most impressive construction projects. Alliant Build America winners excel in the areas of state-of-the-art advancement, project management, innovation in construction techniques or materials, safety record, client service, community relations, environmental sensitivity and partnering excellence, said Berry-Dreisbach.
