Linnie Elizabeth Hammond Northcutt, 95, of Fayetteville, Ga. passed away June 30, 2017.
Linnie was born on August 6, 1921 in Clayton County to Levi Ballard Hammond and Vinnie Elizabeth Hancock Hammond. She was the youngest of six children, having one sister and four brothers. She committed her life to Christ at an early age at Second Baptist Church of College Park, now known as McDonough Road Baptist Church in Fayetteville. She graduated from Russell High School in East Point. Linnie married on May 25, 1941. The union was blessed with three children. She worked as a nurse in her early years and as a daycare worker after her husband’s death in 1981. Linnie was a sweet, loving and caring person; a devoted wife, mother and friend, always thinking of others first. She enjoyed reminiscing and sewing for both her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, sister, and brothers, Linnie was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 40 years, Lowell W. Northcutt, and her son, Dewey H. Northcutt.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Jeannene and Herman Lambert of Matthews, N.C., Rhonda and Jerry Bond of Fayetteville, Ga., and daughter-in-law, Merideth Hein Northcutt, of Atlanta, Ga.; four grandchildren, Brian Lambert, Vicki Berke, Tracy Griggs, and Drew Northcutt; eight great-grandchildren, William and Avery Lambert, Emily, Katelyn, and Kendall Berke, Anna and Ryan Griggs, and Hudson Northcutt.
The family would like to thank the staff of Southland Health & Rehab Center for their kind and compassionate care. In keeping with Linnie’s wishes, a private graveside service will be held for the family at Sherwood Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Jonesboro, Ga. on Monday, July 10, 2017, at 1 p.m.. Services will be conducted by Dr. David Chancey.
