On Thursday May 11, at Whitewater High School from 6:30-8:30 pm, parents, students and the community are invited to watch the film “Screenagers: Growing Up in a Digital Age.”
This movie is not available commercially, but only through special screenings. Immediately following the film there will be a panel moderated by Whitewater High School Principal Roy Rabold.
This community town hall forum will discuss the impact of smart phones and screen time on young people and what families can do together to minimize any harmful effects.
Panelists for the event will be State Judge Jason B. Thompson, psychologist Dr. Susan May from New Start Counseling and Assistant District Attorney Juvenile Court Alisha Thompson to share their perspectives about the growing national concern about the effect hours of screen time has on young people .
Also on the panel will be local high school students from AVPRIDE’s Fayette Youth Leaders Pride (FYLP) program. There is no cost to attend this event but seating is limited.
