Mrs. Mary La Juan Avant Merritt, age 76 of Jackson, Ga. passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Pruitt Health in Monroe, Ga. Mrs. Merritt was born in Montgomery County, Ga. on January 12, 1941.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Franklin Williams and Sidney Thompson Williams; brothers and sister, Amos Williams, James Williams, Ronald Williams, Marcus Williams and Edith Trimble.
Mrs. Merritt retired from Delta Airlines as a secretary. She loved to travel, living life to its fullest. She went on many trips around the world enjoying Gods creation. Mrs. Merritt was a tender hearted, compassionate prayer warrior for the lost and a member of First Assembly of God in Griffin, Ga.
She is survived by her husband, Jack L. Merritt; children, Franklin Fletcher Avant and Audrey Mccurdy; grandchildren, Brain Avant, Brandon Avant and Tristen Webb; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Mary Merritt is Friday, March 31, 2017 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 11 a.m. at First Assembly of God Griffin, Ga. Dr. Randy Valimont will officiate. Interment will follow at Braddy Cemetery in Ailey, Ga.
