Healthcare should not be insurance event

Well, at last, finally we are getting a look at what congressional Republicans consider to be a suitable replacement for Obamacare. Looks to me like it is not much of a change at all, and certainly no improvement.

The only good thing about it is that Obamacare will be trashed. The bad thing is that low income Americans will pay more for less. And who knows where we will go from here?

Once again we will have healthcare administered for the benefit of corporate interests at the expense of American citizens. Healthcare insurers must be jumping for joy and “high five-ing” all over the place. They dodged the bullet again. Of course they don’t have much to worry about what with a Congress dominated by “bought and paid for” Republicans.

Obamacare was destined to fail from the get go. Yes, it was an improvement over what it replaced, but unfortunately it did absolutely nothing to contain costs.

Why does healthcare cost so much? It was the worst kind of compromise, one that benefited very few, but left intact a diabolical health insurance industry controlled system.

I repeat: Healthcare should not be considered an insurance event. What, exactly, makes us think that it is? Universal healthcare is available to virtually all civilized countries and they make it work. Why can’t we?

I’ll tell you why. Those who can afford high dollar medical care and high cost insurance are scared to death that they are going to have to pay for someone else’s medical costs. The healthcare industry will fight it because it will mean the end of their exorbitant profits. Those who have company-paid insurance don’t think they need it, so they don’t care one way or the other.

We, the public, have been duped by profiteers lies and propaganda into thinking universal healthcare is not in our best interest. If you believe that, you’ve been drinking too much Kool-aid. It WILL bring down healthcare costs, it WILL be available to everyone and we CAN afford it.

Now is the time to be heard. Speak out for a universal healthcare system. Let’s put an end to the never ending rip-off. Why should we pay so much more and get so much less than other civilized nations?
