Mr. Grady E. Newton, age 84, of Gay, Ga. passed away Friday, January 13, 2017.

He was preceded in death by parents, Leslie and Mildred Newton; daughter, Vicki Newton; and many brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Doris B. Newton; son, Gordon Newton (Cathie) of Palmetto; daughters, Brenda Cotnoir (Jim) of Utah, Debbie Grimes (David) of Fayetteville; sister, Joyce Hutchinson of Senoia; grandchildren, Hunter, Hannah, Jason, Jaylee, Jessie-Raye, Kevin, Matt, Nick and numerous great-grandchildren.

Gene was employed by the East Point Fire Department for twenty-two years. He retired in 1988 as rank of Lieutenant. He was also a member of the College Park Masonic Lodge #454.

A graveside service was held Monday, January 16, 2017 at 2:30 at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with Corey Grimes and Pastor Byron Martin officiating.
