Travis Taylor of Newnan was a cadet in U.S. Air Force ROTC Detachment 017 at Troy University during the Fall 2016 semester. Taylor is a junior majoring in criminal justice.

Shorter University inducted 17 students into the university’s chapter of the Alpha Chi national honor society during the fall of 2016. The inductees all ranked within the top 10 percent of the junior and senior classes. Local inductees included Nathaniel Gaydosik of Fayetteville and Kayla Killingsworth of Sharpsburg. Alpha Chi officers for 2016-17 include president Anthony Nordman and vice president Erin Nordman, both of Newnan.

Megan Watkins of Sharpsburg participated Nov. 4-5 in the Brenau University Department of Dance’s fall production, “Evening of Dance: PHOENIX,” in Pearce Auditorium in Gainesville. The production featured student-choreographed pieces showcasing each dancer’s unique artistic prowess. She danced in the piece “Spent.” She also performed Dec. 2-4 in the Gainesville Ballet Company’s production of “The Nutcracker,” dancing as a soloist for “Spirit of Christmas” and “Spanish.” She is a student in the class of 2019 majoring in dance.

Brandy Chambers of Moreland performed Nov. 28 in the Brenau University Vocal Chamber Ensemble and Spectrum Singers concert of “Concerts Connecting Cultures…Christmas Around the World” in the John S. Burd Center, Hosch Theatre. She sang as part of Vocal Chamber Ensemble and Spectrum Singers. She also participated Oct. 25 in the collaborative music and dance concert “Lindo maravilhoso! Beautiful, Marvelous Music and Dance of Brazil” at Brenau University’s John S. Burd Center for the Performing Arts atrium, singing with the Vocal Chamber Ensemble and playing the congas for one song. She is a class of 2020 student majoring in music education and a graduate of Newnan High School.

Rachel Deloach of Sharpsburg has been selected by Troy University as a “Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.”

William Tiernan of Fayetteville graduated in August from Upper Iowa University with a bachelor of science degree in business administration.
