The season of giving has officially arrived in Coweta County, and the Coweta Community Foundation has sent out letters about its Annual Appeal for those who wish for their tax-deductible year-end giving to benefit the local community.
For the last 19 years, the Coweta Community Foundation has been able to support many nonprofit organizations located right here in Coweta County. Thanks to the generosity of this community, the Foundation in January will award $40,000 in grants to several nonprofit organizations and educators that serve Coweta County.
According to the Foundation, a gift to CCF allows the group to provide such needs as a month of meals for a hungry Cowetan; 3D printers to inspire local schoolchildren in the classroom; training that helped local Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) meet the needs of foster children; a Leadership Academy benefiting at-risk students; protection for a mother and her children from domestic violence; and many other resources to enhance the lives of all Cowetans.
According to Ginger Queener, board chair of the Coweta Community Foundation, “We know that $40,000 alone won’t address the challenges of a growing community, but it’s a great step in the right direction. Our Foundation has had significant growth in the past few years, and as we approach our twentieth anniversary in 2017, we’re encouraging the community to ‘Come Grow With Us,’ a phrase you’ll be hearing us use a lot over the coming year.”
The Foundation’s fall newsletter, which gives an overview of the work of the Foundation, is the largest one the group has ever produced and is now available for viewing at www.cowetafoundation.org/resource/newsletter.
Gifts may be made at www.cowetafoundation.org as either a one-time or recurring donation. Giving may also be made through gifts of securities; by opening a Donor Advised Fund; through a bequest in an estate plan; or through a gift of life insurance. Queener said that she and the other CCF board members are available to talk to prospective donors about making a gift and to answer any questions.
The Coweta Community Foundation is a publicly supported 501(c)3 organization that helps focus local philanthropy on the community’s changing needs. The Foundation manages individual gifts and bequests as an endowed pool of assets, distributing grants to a wide variety of organizations that enhance and support the quality of life in Coweta County, while maintaining the charitable intent of the donors.
