The Starr’s Mill High School Choral Department will present its 18th annual Candlelight Processional Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m. in the Duke Auditorium.

The evening of seasonal choral music will begin with the 9th-century Gregorian chant “Come, O Come Emmanuel” sung in total darkness by the Advanced Mixed Choir Chanticleer. This opening is followed by the traditional candlelight processional with 150 singers processing with candles to the 16th-century “Personet Hodie.”

The evening proceeds with each of the six performing ensembles presenting holiday music featuring sacred and secular songs from early carol arrangements to contemporary songs celebrating the season. With four concert choirs presenting more traditional Christmas season choral music, the evening will also include the a cappella sounds of the vocal jazz choir, An Octave Above and the audience favorites of the a cappella men’s group Men of the Mill.

Preceding the evening of music will be the annual silent auction which begins in the auditorium lobby at 6 p.m. Proceeds from the silent auction will fund the Choral Department College Scholarship Fund. Bids will be taken prior to the concert and during intermission.

There is no admission charge.
