Tina Bowlden, school nutrition manager at Bennett’s Mill Middle, is the third recipient of the Cheryl Calhoun Manager of the Year Award, established by the school system’s nutrition department to recognize outstanding achievements of school nutrition managers.
The school system’s nutrition staff nominated and voted on the individual they felt was the most qualified for the award. School Nutrition Director Kokeeta Wilder says Bowlden best exemplifies reliability, dedication, hard work, and a positive attitude. She has worked for the school system for 22 years, serving Peeples Elementary before joining the school nutrition team at Bennett’s Mill Middle.
“We are proud of her and appreciate her years of service,” said Wilder.
Named in honor of the district’s longest serving school nutrition director (22 years) who lost her battle with cancer in January 2007, the Cheryl Calhoun Award recognizes nutrition managers who exemplify the professional qualities demonstrated by Calhoun: dedication, hard work, and commitment to excellence.
