SkillsUSA students in Fayette County schools kicked off the competition season by placing in five of the six competitive categories at the Champions Rally at the Georgia National Fair in Perry this month.
Megan D’Errico of Sandy Creek High, pictured above, was the county’s only first-place winner, taking the top prize in Chapter Banner Design with her artwork promoting SkillsUSA at Sandy Creek.
Kevin Khamphounvong and Tristen Petty of Fayette County High, and Alexis Berrios of Starr’s Mill High took fourth and tenth place, respectively, in Career Pathway Display with their visual presentation of the career pathways that are represented at their schools.
Akil Reid of Fayette County High and Justin DeVilla of Starr’s Mill High took third and fifth place, respectively, in Career Pathway Poster with their designs that represented the career pathways available at their schools.
Lindsey Johnson and Cheryl Okonkwo of Fayette County High placed sixth in Chapter Recruitment Display for their work in creating a presentation that will be used to recruit new members to join their school’s SkillsUSA chapter.
Tony Nguyen of Fayette County High placed eighth in Chapter Recruitment Poster with his design that will be used to recruit new students to become members of the school’s SkillsUSA chapter.
All contest entries that placed in the top 10 at the Champions Rally remained on display at the fair, and the winners received ribbons and cash prizes to recognize their achievements.
