The Fayette County Library will join with The Southern Conservation Trust to bring The Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Trainers to the Fayette County Public Library to offer two training classes on “Leave No Trace.”
The Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics, a national organization that teaches people how to enjoy the outdoors responsibly, is sending one of their award-winning Traveling Trainer teams to the area for a week-long visit.
The trainers will conduct separate one-hour trainings Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 6 p.m. and Thursday, Oct. 20, at 1 p.m., especially targeting homeschool groups and youth groups. They provide engaging and interactive hands-on educational workshops designed to teach people about reducing environmental impacts while recreating in the outdoors, as well as sharing Leave No Trace in the community.
Anyone interested in attending the training may choose either session to attend.
A sampling of what you will learn during a Leave No Trace Workshop:
-
How to help others develop a sense of environmental stewardship
-
Interesting skills to minimize your impacts when you’re in the great outdoors
-
The best methods to cook, clean, stay overnight, interact with other visitors/wildlife, and overall take care of the places you like to spend time outdoors
The Fayette County Public Library is located at 1821 Heritage Way in Fayetteville. All workshops are free and open to the public.
