If we are counting fowls/fouls then the Fayette County Board of Commissioners should sit out the season in the proverbial penalty box over the delay of funding for the proposed performing arts center.
How long have the residents of this county patiently waited for this PAC? It is wrong to assume as so many do, that this purposed/proposed Art Center is just for those who love the arts. NOT so. It’s for everybody and will benefit everyone, whether or not you favor the performing/cultural arts. Do the research on the long- and short-term benefits of such an investment, and you will find it to be factual information.
If we are seriously going so far as to “limit the number of hens allowed for residential use,” then I suggest we also limit the number of chickens we allow on our Board of Commissioners, and if the shoe fits, then the Fayetteville City Council as well.
That’s our hard-earned tax dollars at work, right? The proposed PAC funding’s been shelved, so we can move on to more important matters on the agenda. Can you believe this? Well, I sure can.
The Rooster House in Fayette is full to capacity if you ask me and they have managed well to ruffle more than a few feathers along the way. Wondering if any of them have a backbone left?
Don’t know about you, but I’ve had just about all the cock-a-doodle-do I can stand. Better watch your step in this county, it’s everywhere.
”Having the SPLOST on a November cycle creates a time frame so compressed that there are concerns that adequate notices have not been done, according to a county staff report” Really? Exactly how long has this proposed PAC been on the projected list? Adequate notices? How long have you had to send out appropriate notices? Smokescreen play. Notify Pinewood! They could make a movie out of it.
”Delaying the SPLOST … creates a better opportunity to educate our residents of these critical projects and to further flesh out our project lists to our residents.” Oh, please, another textbook smokescreen manuever.
Why does the most affluent county in the Southern Crescent not already have a well supported PAC?
Our surrounding sister counties such as Coweta and Clayton have such in place and they are well supported.
It acts as a catalyst for local businesses generating revenue through tourism and special events, concerts, theatre, etc. More importantly it creates community and personal ties, camaraderie amongst residents and a sense of belonging for all in the community, not just artist performers. One does not have to like the arts to benefit from a PAC’s programs.
Putting a challenge out to each of you fowls: Ask 10 businesses or families why they left Fayette County over the past 10 years? Compile your lists and make a new discovery. This is basic information any county commissioner should know without being challenged. Instead you guys are discussing the number of hens you are going to allow folks to have in their own freakin’ back and side yards!
Ever heard of “missing the forest for the trees?” How about not ignoring the elephant in the room with all those chickens.
What we really need is a “Special called for election” or public hearing or perhaps a picket line scheduled to propose a new limit on the number of roosters allowed on our Fayette Board of Commissioners. Time to clean out the chicken coop.
Why did the chicken cross the road? To get to the PAC where all good chickens go, or to leave Fayette County. Who would know? Too many roosters clucking around Fayettes’ Barnyard Board, scratching up a storm, and making a bunch of noise.
