In an effort to encourage Georgia families with young children to save for their children’s college education, the Path2College 529 Plan is giving children in Georgia an opportunity to win a $1,529 contribution to their Path2College 529 Plan account.

Financial experts agree that saving early and regularly for college is key to establishing a strong foundation to help pay for a child’s continued education.

Parents, legal guardians and grandparents, at least 21 years of age or older who are legal residents of Georgia, can enter children born in 2003 or after in the We Care, Child Care Sweepstakes by Sept. 1 for a chance to win.

Three winners across the state – one in metro Atlanta, one in north Georgia and one in south Georgia – will be chosen randomly to receive the contribution. For prize details, official rules and an entry form, visit www.Path2College529.com. No purchase necessary. Void where prohibited. Sponsored by the Path2College 529 Plan.

“Early childhood education and financial planning are essential to help ensure children have a strong foundation for their future,” said Mitch Seabaugh, executive director of the Path2College 529 Plan. “For the second year, our partnership with the Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL) will help us reach even more Georgia families to educate them about the state’s 529 college savings plan, Path2College, and encourage them to begin saving for their children’s education today.”

According to DECAL commissioner Amy Jacobs, “Through the work of DECAL and the Path2College 529 Plan, families can be involved in their children’s academic careers from the time they are born. DECAL helps lay a solid foundation for lifelong learning in children’s lives, and the Path2College 529 Plan helps parents invest for their children’s college education so they can have the resources to pursue the college and career paths of their choice.”

The sweepstakes will also award three child care centers licensed by DECAL $529 for their efforts to help educate families about the importance of saving for college.
