The Fayette County Water System has received the “People’s Choice: Best of the Best Tasting Tap Water Award” in Georgia at the Georgia Association of Water Professionals annual conference in Savannah.

Fayette County Water System won the award by a “landslide – no questions asked” vote, according to county officials.

To be eligible to enter the contest the system first had to be the Best Tasting Water in the GAWP District. It won that honor at the GAWP Spring Conference in May of this year, beating out Carroll, Clayton, Cobb, Coweta, DeKalb, Douglas, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Paulding, Rockdale and Newton counties.

All eight districts submitted a water sample during the annual conference and all 1,300 attendees had a chance to taste the water samples and cast their vote. Fayette County was voted the best-tasting water in Georgia.

“What a wonderful acknowledgement of the hard work of our Water System to achieve this award,” said Board of Commissioners Chairman Charles Oddo, “and a source of pride for Fayette County.”
