The New Neighbors League Club (NNLC) won first place in the Golf Cart Division of the Peachtree City 4th of July parade for the fourth year in a row.
Their Wizard of Oz golf cart proclaimed “There’s No Place Like Home” and “Life is Good in the Bubble.”
The award-winning float was created by the inspiration and hard-work of April Dickerson, along with many other club members who offered their time and talent.
The float, with its yellow brick road and large peach shaped bubble, was so large that it required a police escort to get into parade position as it would not fit through the cart path tunnels.
More than a dozen characters in costume added to the float including Dorothy, Tin Man, Scarecrow, and the Lion along with the Emerald City palace guards, wicked witch, flying monkey, the lollipop kid, munchkins, and of course Glinda, the good witch, and the Wizard of Oz.
NNLC’s purpose is to bring newcomers to the area together so that they may meet and become friends while adjusting to new surroundings. It is a not for profit social organization that has a wide variety of activities. If you live in the Fayette-Coweta county area and would like more information about joining NNLC, contact Club Director Carol Jensen-Linton at 770-486-9116 or visit www.newneighborsptc.com.
