Waffle House CEO to headline forum

Waffle House President and CEO Walt Ehmer will be in Newnan Tuesday, June 28 as guest speaker for the NuLink Early Bird Forum sponsored by the Newnan-Coweta Chamber.

Ehmer will share the story of how Waffle House became known as one of Georgia’s most recognizable brands. He will also share with the crowd what has made Waffle House so successful for more than 60 years and what sets the restaurant apart from other establishments.

Ehmer graduated from Georgia Tech in 1989 with a bachelor’s degree in industrial and systems engineering. Upon graduation he began his career as a sales engineer for Allen-Bradley Company in Milwaukee.

He joined Waffle House in 1992 as a senior buyer in the Purchasing Department. He was promoted to director of purchasing in 1996, vice president of finance in 1999, chief financial officer in 2001, president in 2006 and CEO in 2012.

There are now more than 1,800 Waffle House restaurants in 25 states, with more than 75 percent of those owned and operated by Waffle House, Inc.

Ehmer has served as a member of the Georgia Tech Industrial Engineering Advisory Board, the Georgia Tech Alumni Association Board of Trustees, and the Georgia Tech President’s Advisory Board. He is a past Chair of the Georgia Tech Alumni Association and a current member of the Georgia Tech Foundation. Ehmer also serves on the Board of the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and is involved with several other charitable and civic organizations, including the Atlanta Police Foundation.

Held quarterly, the popular NuLink Early Bird Forums provide exclusive information and a great opportunity to connect with Coweta’s business and community leaders. Breakfast takes place at The Newnan Centre 7:30-9 a.m. Cost is $20 for Chamber members and their guests and $50 for general admission.
