Nominations Open for 2027 Coweta County Citizen of the Year

COWETA COUNTY, GA – Nominations are now being accepted for the 2027 Coweta County Citizen of the Year award. This annual honor recognizes an individual who has shown outstanding leadership, citizenship, and a sustained commitment to improving the community.

“For years, the Citizen of the Year award has celebrated extraordinary individuals who embody true civic leadership and a spirit of selfless service,” said Nancy Walden, Chair of the event committee. “If you know someone making a lasting, positive impact, we encourage you to share their story and submit a nomination.”

The public is encouraged to nominate a deserving individual by completing the nomination form available on the Newnan-Coweta Chamber website, or by clicking here. Nominations will be accepted through Wednesday, November 11, 2026.

The nominee should live in Coweta County, and his or her civic and volunteer activities must be centered in Coweta County and the surrounding area. Consideration will be given to those who demonstrate leadership and performance in multiple areas of community service over a period of years. The nominee may be an individual from any walk of life, and there are no requirements or restrictions relating to gender, age, race, religion, or ethnic background.

Individuals may not nominate themselves, and family members may not nominate another family member. Individuals must be nominated on the basis of their volunteer and community impact, not as a result of their paid work. When memberships and organizations are part of the nomination, specific accomplishments must be included.

The nomination form should include both the nominee’s name and contact information, as well as the nominator’s name and contact information. The nominator must provide a cover page, answer the four listed questions describing the nominee’s contributions to the community, and obtain two letters of recommendation. A one-page biography of the nominee must also be included.

Completed nomination forms and packages should be emailed to the Newnan-Coweta Chamber at [email protected] or faxed to 770-253-2271 no later than 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 11, 2026.

The 2027 Citizen of the Year announcement event will be held on January 28, 2027, at the Newnan Centre, 1515 Lower Fayetteville Road, Newnan, GA 30265, with doors opening at 6:00 p.m.
