AgSouth will partner with the UGA Extension offices in Carroll, Coweta, and Paulding counties this summer to offer a small farm business training workshop.

The AGAware workshop is a premier program created to promote and educate the next generation of beginning, and small farmers.

The program “was an informative session that demonstrated the true importance of financial planning and loan opportunities related to farming,” said a past participant. The educational workshop covers balance sheets, income statements, personal finance, building a budget, and much more.

The upcoming free workshop will be offered Friday, Aug. 19, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Carroll County Extension office, 900 Newnan Road in Carrollton. Space is limited in the workshop and participants are required to register before Aug. 12 at 770-836-8546 or uge2045@uga.edu.

The workshop will be offered as Part 1 of an upcoming educational series called the Journeyman Farmer Certificate Program. The program is for those interested in starting a farm business or those how have recently begun farming and want to improve their operation. The Journeyman Program is a three-part series including the small farm business training, a small ruminant production course, and a hands-on production experience. The AGAware workshop will count for the small farm business training portion of the program.
