Author, historian, reenactor, volunteer and public servant medal award winner Nicky Hughes from Frankfort, Kentucky, will be the guest speaker at the Senoia Area Historical Museum Thursday, May 12, as part of its regular monthly meeting.
“His resume is so extensive in the field of military history that it would be impossible to recount the many, many roles he has played or even to list the interesting museum-related jobs he has had before his recent retirement,” according to a statement.
Hughes is also co-author of
“Historic Images of Frankfort” and “The Frankfort Cemetery – The Westminster Abbey of Kentucky,” as well as a writer for numerous military history publications. He was a longtime employee of the Kentucky Military History Museum and now will be presenting a discussion on the evolution of the military uniform, “Lexington Green to Olive Drab,” Saturday, May 14, at Gail’s Antiques.
Join the members at 6 Couch Street May 12; the Museum doors open at 6:30 p.m. for light refreshments followed at 7 p.m. by Hughes’ discussion concerning some of the little-known facts about the daily life, the “trials and tribulations,” of the common infantryman.
