Sharpsburg Baptist Church will host a prayer event, “God Save America,” on Friday evening April 15, from 6 p.m. until midnight in the sanctuary at 6413 Ga Highway 54.
The congregation invites members of the community to “drop in” at any time during this six hour candlelight prayer vigil.
“God Save America” is the third event SBC has hosted since May 2015. The first focused on missions both close to home and in foreign lands. The second was on Sept. 11, 2015, and honored first responders. A popular display was fireman and police uniforms and paraphernalia, and local EMTs were part of the opening program. The emphasis of Friday’s event will be on local and state government as well as for the leadership of the nation.
“Freedom Speaks,” a short program of readings and a video of words from past Presidents, will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Pastor Wallace McAbee of SBC says he hopes to see “significant numbers come and pray for our country, our families and our churches.”
He notes “We have seen such positive results from the past prayer events. The number of participants has grown each time and many have shared the importance of the prayer vigil on their lives. Our church has certainly been blessed by those who have attended and by their prayers. Please join us Friday night.”
