Merton “Mert” Spear of Peachtree City, Ga. was born September 2, 1927 in Augusta, Maine. The Lord called him to his heavenly home on April 2, 2016.
He was a loving husband and devoted father of three children. He served in the Army during WWII and worked for Xerox as a design engineer, receiving six U. S. patents. His service for the Lord included starting both a church bookstore and a translator radio station. He also served on the board of the Mars Hill Network.
He will be deeply missed by those who love him, including many friends; his wife, Bertha; daughter Sharon and Dave Salzmann and their two children Jonathan (Betsy) Salzmann and Jared Salzmann; son Kevin and Deanne Spear and their five children Michelle, Jordan, Parker, Madi, and Monica; daughter Pam and John Collins and their three children Tyler (Michelle) Collins (children Miles and Cooper), Brandon (Megan) Collins (children Jacey and Simon) and Janelle Collins.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. at Carriage Lane Presbyterian Church in Peachtree City, Ga.
