Local gardening enthusiasts gathered March 19 to observe Georgia Master Gardener Day.

Master gardener extension volunteer Jennifer Stewart presented a class on “Growing Vegetables from A to Z.” The displays left nothing to the imagination – from tools to soil amendments, to seeds, planting, pest deterrents, to actual plants.

Juan Hayes was the winner of the blueberry plant that Jennifer donated.

After the class there was a cake donated by Kroger at Banks Station in Fayetteville, acknowledging the day and local volunteers.  Master Gardeners and residents took advantage of the beautiful day, the class and the refreshments.

“This was a token of our appreciation for the Master Gardener Extension Volunteers who are vital to the success of our training, education, gardening and youth programs,” according to a spokesperson.
