Serafina “Sara” Marie Litty of Peachtree City, Ga., age 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on January 18, 2016. 

Born on April 1, 1931 in Masontown, Pa., Sara was the daughter of the late Joseph and Theresa Zamarelli Cocca.  She graduated from Salem High School in Salem, Ohio where she met the love of her life, James R. Litty, a U. S. military veteran.  Jim and Sara were married on December 24, 1949 and recently celebrated 66 years of marriage.

Sara and her husband, Jim, owned and operated Litty’s Pastries in Dover and New Philadelphia, Ohio for 25 years.  Sara was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover, Ohio. In 1987, Sara and Jim moved to Peachtree City, Ga.  She worked in city government in Senoia, Ga. until she retired.  Sara enjoyed playing cards with her husband and friends, was an avid golfer, loved working crossword and number puzzles, and her casino trips with the Biloxi Belles.  Above all, Sara, a loving wife and mother, cherished the time spent with her family.

Sara will be deeply missed by her beloved husband, Jim; daughter Sheryl and Kevin Johnston of Destin, Fla.; son Steven and Teresa Litty of New Philadelphia, Ohio; daughter Viola and Mark Martinelli of Sharpsburg, Ga.; daughter Karen Litty and Tracy Aldrich of Green Bay, WI; son Robert Litty of Omaha, NE; son David Litty and Jeff Nelson of Concord, Calif.; son William and Jessica Litty of Waynesville, N.C.; including ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren: Brian and Julie Johnston (Brennan and Parker); Lori (Johnston) and Jay DeVaughn (Eli); Drew and Alyssa Litty; Matthew Litty; Sara Litty; Rachael Litty; Rhiannon (Martinelli) and Chris Clark; Anthony Martinelli; Sean Martinelli; and Hannah Litty.  Sara is also survived by four brothers, Andrew and Shirley Parlantieri; Dominic and Sandra Parlontieri; Richard and Dianna Parlontieri; Ronald and Pamela Parlontieri; two sisters, Jeanne and Robert Hinchliffe and Donna Callahan; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins complete her family.  Sara was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and one brother.

A Funeral Mass to celebrate Sara’s life will be offered on March 8, 2016 at 12 p.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Peachtree City, Ga. A burial service will follow at Westminster Memorial Gardens in Peachtree City, Ga.  The family will receive friends Monday, March 7, 2016 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. with the Rosary at 6:30 p.m. in the chapel of Mowell Funeral Home in Peachtree City, Ga.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations “In Memory of Sara M. Litty” be given to Holy Trinity Catholic Church and mailed to: 101 Walt Banks Road, Peachtree City, Ga. 30269, or an offering of a Catholic Mass for the repose of Sara’s soul.
