The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Calera, Ala., Feb. 6-7 to host the Birmingham Junior Challenge at Timberline Golf Club. Winners in all five age divisions will receive an automatic bid to the Tour Championship Dec. 3-4. The top ten finishers also received points towards end year honors, which includes state teams, all HJGT teams, and the Hurricane Cup.
In the boys 11-13 division, Renato Gerena, Jr., from Peachtree City finished the tournament in the top spot. Gerena came out Saturday dropping ten bogeys on his way to a solid round of 91 which put him in the lead by 30 strokes. He posted a 96 Sunday, which included ten bogeys.
