Mrs. Billie F. Prouty, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, died on February 15, 2016.  We lost our precious Billie to malignant melanoma at her home in Fayetteville, Ga.  

She was born in Winston County, Miss. on December 19, 1939.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Charles V. Prouty.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, Stennis and Obera Womble; her sister, Bobbie Moody; and her brothers, Joe Wayne Womble and Stennis Dale Womble. She is also survived by her son, David Prouty and his wife, Suzanne of Cumming; her daughters, Joan Nichols and husband Keith of Marietta, and Karen Conklin and husband Omi of Atlanta; her grandsons, Jacob and Matthew Prouty; her granddaughter, Victoria Nichols; and her sister, Sandra Faye Reese of Bogalusa, La.  

She and her family moved to Georgia from Jackson, Miss. in 1982. She was a real estate agent at Tri-City Realty and Mortgage, Inc. in Peachtree City for several years and was their Outstanding Sales Associate of the Year for 1986.  Beginning in 1987, she was employed as Administrative Assistant in the Office of Inspector General, U.S. Department of Agriculture in Atlanta, earning several awards for excellence before her retirement in 2011. She was an active member of Fayette Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville.

The funeral service will be at 3 p.m. on Friday, February 19, 2016 at Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville Chapel, with Dr. Alex Moses officiating.  The family will receive guests at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, February 18, 2016.  Burial will be a private ceremony at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Ga.
