For the second straight year, Donna Blaum of Starr’s Mill swam to a state championship.

The junior was first to the wall in the 50-meter freestyle, one of the events she won in 2015. She finished fourth in the 100 butterfly, an event she won last year.

The Lady Panthers came in second in the 200 free relay behind Blaum, Allyson Phinney, Sarah Panel and Kylee Bogumill. The girls’ team finished sixth in the A-AAAAA category, which was won by Marist.

Bogumill was sixth in the 500 free and tenth in the 200 free.

The only other girl with a top-10 finish among local swimmers was Meg Everritt of Whitewater, who was tenth in the 100 backstroke.

On the boys’ side, McIntosh came in tied for fifth with North Atlanta, as Westminster took home the team crown.

Tan Dunn led the Chiefs with second place in the 50 free and 100 back. He was part of the 200 free relay team that finished second along with Maalik Nixon, Ryan Ward and Marty Stange.

The 200 medley relay team consisting of Dunn, Stange, Nixon and Chai Eckley finished fourth. Stange came in third in the 50 free.

Nick Palmer of Starr’s Mill was ninth in the 200 free and 500 free. Gab Bartolomei of Sandy Creek was eighth in the 100 back.
