Christ Our Shepherd announces Dr. Frank Fortunato as the new director of contemporary worship (part time).

Fortunato has served in music ministry his entire lifetime, most recently ministering in several churches in this area.

He is an authority on church ethnomusicology, holding the position of director, Global Renewal of Worship Center at the Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies, Jacksonville, Fla., where he also is an adjunct teacher.

He is worship consultant for Operation Mobilization International, having previously served as music director on the ministry’s ocean liner mission ships. He founded OM’s Heart Sounds International, which works to teach, promote, and record indigenous church music in countries where Christianity is restricted.

He co-authored one book and co-edited another. He also compiled a number of multi-language songbooks, wrote articles for a diverse group of magazines, and produced nine recordings.

The new director earned an undergraduate degree at Houghton College and a master’s at Bethel University. His doctorate in worship studies is from the Webber Institute.

Even with his wide range of interests, Fortunato says he is committed to music ministry in a local church.

Christ Our Shepherd’s music minister, David Beecher, says, “Christ Our Shepherd is blessed to welcome Frank Fortunato.”
