It’s that time of the year for children who will be attending Kindergarten next year. Coweta County parents with children ready for Kindergarten can begin registration on Feb. 1. Applications for the pre-Kindergarten lottery will be available on March 7.
Registration for 2016 Kindergarten classes in the Coweta County School System will begin on Feb. 1. Parents are encouraged to register their Kindergarten-age child early for the new school year, since many will be enrolling for school for the first time. Early Kindergarten registration will run through April 1.
Kindergarten classes in Coweta County Elementary schools are open to all Coweta children who will be five years old by September 1.
Parents of Kindergarten-age children who are not currently enrolled in a Coweta school may register at the school system’s 167 Werz Industrial Blvd. Registration Center Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Children who will be four years old by Sept. 1 are eligible to apply for limited pre-Kindergarten spots at the school they will attend. Application for those limited-enrollment class slots will be held Monday, March 7 through noon on Friday, March 18, with a lottery drawing at 1 p.m. on March 18 at their districted school.

Kindergartners new to the school system are the largest group of children enrolled each year in the school system, and Registrar Kerry Harvey says that early registration for those new students is held for the convenience of parents.
“We can focus on helping parents get online and get all the necessary documents together, and it helps avoid delays or wait times for them as we get closer to the new school year,” Harvey said.
