A special event was held on Veterans Day to honor the 42 veterans who live, work, or volunteer on the campus of Christian City in southwest metro Atlanta.

The event was held in the Welcome Center Chapel with campus residents, staff, volunteers, and family in attendance.

Christian City was established 50 years ago when the first cottage for abused and abandoned children opened on Valentine’s Day, 1965. Today, there are almost 1,000 residents living on the Christian City campus, which has grown to more than 500 acres.

In addition to The Children’s Village, the campus also includes four subdivisions of patio homes for seniors, four apartment complexes for seniors on limited incomes, a 200-bed rehabilitation and nursing center, a 200-bed assisted living/personal care home, and two specialty units for victims of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.
