On to the second round

Three local teams are moving on to the second round of the state football playoffs Nov. 20 after blowout first-round wins, and all three have big road trips on the horizon.

Starr’s Mill rolled to a 49-0 win over Northside-Columbus in AAAAA and will play at Allatoona.

Sandy Creek advance with an identical 49-0 score against North Hall and will play at Bainbridge in the AAAA bracket.

Northgate advanced in AAAAA with a 44-0 victory against Shaw and will play at Lanier.

Fayette County closed out its season, and its second straight AAAA playoff appearance, with a 35-0 loss at Buford.

In AAAAAA, East Coweta wrapped up 2015 with a 38-17 loss to Newton.

Landmark will begin its postseason next week in the 16-team A Private bracket with a game at Savannah Christian.
