Two Fayette County school orchestral programs have received the highest level of recognition by the Georgia Music Educators Association for program excellence.

The orchestras at J.C. Booth Middle and Sandy Creek High have both received the 2015 GMEA Exemplary Performance Award in the orchestra division. The most prestigious award available to secondary school orchestral programs in Georgia, it recognizes outstanding ensembles across the state whose students excel in all aspects of performance, both individually and as part of a group.

Music programs receiving the Exemplary Performance Award consistently earn superior ratings at all GMEA-sponsored events.

Amanda Morgan is the orchestra director at J.C. Booth Middle, and Patti Davis is the orchestra director at Sandy Creek High.
